Andrew Merritt joined Wiseman Ashworth Trauger as an Associate Attorney in August 2021.
Andrew is a 2021 graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School. While at Vanderbilt, Andrew served as Managing Associate Justice of the Moot Court Board, assisting the Chief Justice in managing the annual Moot Court competition, traveling team, and board participation in Vanderbilt’s legal writing program. He was also a 2020 Moot Court quarterfinalist. During law school, Andrew volunteered for two years for Justice for Our Neighbors (JFON’s) immigration legal clinic and worked as an extern for ThinkTennessee.
Prior to law school, Andrew worked as a homeless disability and outreach coordinator at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as part of an innovative health clinic that provided healthcare and social supports outside hospital walls to individuals experiencing homelessness in Nashville. In this role he assisted individuals in expedited Social Security benefit applications and appeals as a non-attorney advocate and assisted individuals in obtaining independent or supportive housing. Andrew has also worked previously as a public high school teacher.
Andrew moved to Tennessee in 2015 when his wife was selected to complete her residency and fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and since then Nashville has become their adopted home. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys hiking with his spouse and dog, seeing movies at the Belcourt Theater, and supporting the Nashville Predators and Nashville SC.
